Address: Stubbsveden Avesta

In Avesta Bison park you will meet the magnificent, mighty and awe-inspiring prehistoric animal, eye to eye. An endangered European species of bison.

The European bison lived during the Bronze Age in the deciduous forests in southern Sweden all the way up to the vast forests of Tiveden and Kolmården. The bison then disappeared sometime around the middle ages from the Swedish fauna. Maybe one day they will once again roam free in the Swedish forests, but until then you are welcome to visit Avesta municipality's own breeding center for the preservation of the powerful animal.

In large enclosures surrounding a farm from the previous century you can view the endangered animals. Avesta Bison Park has around 30 bison’s that are divided into two flocks in separate large natural enclosures.
