Hedemora Municipality

Hedemora was founded in 1446, making it Dalarna’s oldest city and the only medieval town in the province. Hedemora Municipality is a miniature of Dalarna, with a city center dating back to the 15th century, well-preserved historic wooden buildings, service and trade. In the vibrant district of Bergsmansbygd, the past really comes alive. Other local little gems include Stjärnsund, Garpenberg, Smedby, Vikmanshyttan and Långshyttan – all well worth a visit. The Dalälven River flows through the municipality and makes its mark on life here.
