Sala Municipality
Sala is located 1.5 hours west of Stockholm where the Uppsala plains and the Mälardalen fields merge into the forests of Bergslagen. Here, you will find bright and peaceful wide-open spaces, and in the small city, founded in 1624 by King Gustav II Adolf thanks to the now-historic Sala Silver Mine, you’ll find a charming city center, great shops and interesting events, experiences and fun activities for the whole family.

Sala Municipality borders Västerås in the south and, through Avesta in the north, is the gateway to Dalarna and Nedre Dalälven. About 23,000 people live here, 13,000 of them in the city. Other larger localities in the area include Ransta, Västerfärnebo and Möklinta.
