Focus area – Sustainable tourism

The Nedre Dalälven area is both extremely scenic and filled with unique biodiversity and historic cultural environments. Protecting our local assets while living off and with them, now and in the future, is the balance that our sustainability work is aimed at. As a Biosphere Reserve, we test new paths, strengthen local cooperation and increase awareness of how much can actually be accomplished in terms of sustainability. As social and environmental consciousness continues to rise, working with a long-term sustainable focus also strengthens the competitiveness of our sights and attractions and our local businesses.

Increased awareness brings improvements

Today, we know that an increased focus on sustainability is a must. The trend of responsible travel is strong, and conscious travelers are increasingly demanding sustainable goods and services. We want to be a pioneer in this area, working to make sustainability an obvious and essential platform in everything that is offered in the tourist industry in the Nedre Dalälven area. Virtually everything within the tourism industry, just as in other industries, can be made more sustainable. It is about moving yourself as an entrepreneur along your own sustainability path, about doing what you can, looking at your own business and constantly striving to improve. Small steps are better than no steps at all. And often it is the simple things that lead to great progress. By taking lots of small steps together, we can make a giant leap forward.
