On this exciting nature and culture adventure, you’ll get to experience Sala’s beautiful nature and ancient history.
We’ll paddle together for a full day through part of the enormous water system that was once an indispensable component in Sala’s silver mining, and which stretched all the way up to the Dalälven River. We’ll travel past beaver lodges and breeding islands and look for traces of the human ingenuity and hard work behind the construction of the water system so long ago. During the tour, we’ll embark on scenic beaches to eat a delicious lunch with coffee and pastries. Guided canoe tours through the impressive water system. Two-person canoes (Canadians) life vest and paddle. Lunch with beverage. Coffee and snack. The canoe trip is carried out in all weathers and is only cancelled in the event of extreme winds or thunderstorms directly overhead, in which case it will be refunded in full. This is a full-day adventure that requires a certain physical strength of participants. We’ll paddle slowly and take regular breaks, but the total tour is about 4 hours long. No previous paddling experience is necessary, and your guide will give you an overview of basic paddling techniques. If necessary, we may need to lift the canoes a bit over the old dam walls, and we’ll all help out with this. The recommended minimum age is 12.
Included: To bring with you: Weather-appropriate clothing. An extra change of clothes (which you can pack in our waterproof pack sacks). Water bottle. Sunscreen (when sunny). Swimsuits (optional).
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we try to keep at least 2 meters’ distance from anyone not sharing a canoe. This means that vehicle transport to our launching place may need to be done in several trips.
