The Björn Lighthouse island is located at the far end of the Björn archipelago, five kilometers past the northern tip of the Hållnäs peninsula. This location makes the island a popular resting place for migratory birds, with the best times for birdwatching in September/October and May. The island is several hundred meters long and about one hundred meters wide. The lighthouse and lighthouse-keeper’s residence are located on the eastern side of the island, while the western side of the island is covered by a grove of trees interspersed with open spaces of sparse vegetation. There is a wood-burning stove in each apartment, and heating is provided through a water-borne system attached to the stove. It can thus take some time for the apartment to get warm. There is also a gas stove for cooking. The Uppland Foundation supplies the wood, but there is an extra fee of SEK 50/day if you want to light a fire in the stove. Use the stove with caution and read the fire-lighting instructions!

Included: The standard in the building is simple, with no electricity, water, or heating. Each apartment in the lighthouse-keeper’s residence sleeps five people: two bunk beds and one single bed. Sleeping is only permitted on the bottom floor, and no more than 5 persons may stay in each apartment. There is an outhouse with a dry toilet next to the northern shed nearest the lighthouse-keeper’s residence.

Each apartment has: Five beds with duvets, pillows and warm blankets (bring your own sheets or sleeping bags), kitchenware, gas stove, container for water with tap holding about 10 liters (there is a water pump outside the building – the water should be boiled before using), flashlight, oil lamp, paper towels, dishpan, dish brush, detergent, buckets, rags, soap
